Logline:
Golden Groves is a half-hour mockumentary series set inside a lively retirement community where quirky residents and overwhelmed staff navigate chaos, friendship, and reinvention—proving that aging is inevitable, but acting your age is absolutely optional.
Plot Synopsis:
Eighty-year-old Josette arrives at Golden Groves determined to embrace widowhood with optimism, spontaneity, and a little mischief. Newly independent for the first time in decades, she’s eager to reinvent herself, much to the concern of her inheritance-obsessed daughter, Rosemarie.
Inside the lively retirement community, Josette quickly meets an eccentric cast of residents and staff, including the relentlessly polished manager Ms. Leon, rebellious tattooed Chef Adam, and Hector, the ultra-strict director whose glare is sharp enough to keep raccoons away. Eager to build a new social circle, Josette sets her sights on befriending June, a regal and emotionally guarded widow who lost her own close-knit group years ago and has no interest in joining a new crowd.
As Josette is pulled into the wonderfully chaotic world of Golden Groves—complete with synchronized hobby horsing, gossip wars, and awkward STI seminars—she discovers retirement living isn’t about slowing down at all. Beneath the comedy and chaos, Josette finds an unexpected second chance to live life entirely on her own terms.
