Logline:
At Golden Groves, a lively retirement community, quirky residents and overwhelmed staff navigate chaos, friendship, and reinvention—proving that aging is inevitable, but acting your age is optional.

Plot Synopsis:
Eighty-year-old Josette arrives at Golden Groves, ready to dive into her golden years with flair (and maybe a little mischief). Freshly widowed and on her own for the first time, she’s eager to reinvent herself, if only her skeptical daughter Rosemarie would stop worrying about her inheritance. Josette quickly meets the eccentric cast of Golden Groves, including Ms. Leon, the overly polished manager whose too-perfect smile might be hiding a few secrets; Chef Adam, the tattooed culinary rebel with a mysterious past; and Hector, the ultra-strict Director who keeps the residents in line with a glare sharp enough to keep raccoons away. Josette makes it her mission to form new connections, starting with June, the regal and frosty resident who’s about as warm as a snow cone. Inspired by the community’s activities (yes, synchronized hobby horsing is a thing), Josette signs up for the Oktoberfest dance team. Along the way, she navigates golden-years gossip, baffling social codes, and one very awkward STI awareness flyer. As Josette sets her sights on making Golden Groves her home, she realizes this might finally be her chance to live life on her own termsproving that even at 80, the adventure is just beginning.

Tone:
The tone of Golden Groves is a playful blend of Golden Girls meets workplace comedy, creating a heartwarming and satirical universe all its own. Like The Office and Parks and Rec, Golden Groves leans into light-hearted absurdity, using wit and a touch of irreverence to explore the unexpected vibrancy and drama of life in an upscale retirement community. At its heart, the story centers on women who are, for the first time, discovering the freedom to live on their own terms — a mix of empowerment and a long-awaited coming of age. The colorful, dynamic characters bring laughs through their interactions, revealing sincere, relatable moments about aging, independence, and friendship. It’s a feel-good, spirited show that celebrates the idea that life and a little mischief doesn’t stop at any age.
